Originally released in 1979, The Cure's surprisingly upbeat and catchy debut album was more a reflection of it's time and only hinted at what was to come in a long and illustrious career. A great band setting the scene with trademark licks and atmospheres, footnotes and hints of the classic Cure sound to come, it's a credit to the sparseness of the trio and the minimalist songwriting that the album stands on it's own in a lengthy discography with many twists and turns.
