Originally released in 1979, an absolute classic in their discography and often cited in many peoples top ten punk albums of all time. So much more than the three charting singles from the album - 'Love Song', 'Smash it Up' and 'I Just Can't Be Happy Today'. The Damned remained resolutely in their own musical headlights and continued to influence those around them, just listen to how the spoken word intro of "Ladies and Gentleman, how do" launches into tracks 'Love Song' then fire's itself into 'Machine Gun Etiquette' and then into 'I just can't be happy today' and you'd be pushed to find a better starting gun to any album. Still a benchmark for many a band to follow in it's quake and rightly so...all the way through to 'Smash it up', lift the needle and start all over again.
